SYD COHEN, AKA PABLO GARCIA

Syd Cohen played for the Bees in 1930, hitting .380. In 1931, the fluently bilingual Cohen played for the Nogales Internationals using the alias of Pablo Garcia to convince the fans across the line that there were Mexican players on the team. In the early 1950s, Cohen returned to Bisbee to manage the Copper Kings.

Two Lasts for the Babe

While pitching for the Washington Senators in 1934, Cohen recorded the last strikeout Babe Ruth would make as a Yankee – and also gave up the last home run the Babe would hit while wearing Yankee pinstripes.
